About Us

It all began in September 2002. Formed out of the love of our home continent – Africa – and an overwhelming passion for travel and all the life lessons that are learnt through adventures. Since those humble beginnings we grew slowly and carefully and can proudly say that thanks to the unwavering support of our family, friends, team and many past clients, we stand firm on solid foundations in the wonderful world of travel.

As an independent, privately-owned company we have kept our focus on giving our best at all times. We are a small team of 5 women, all of whom add unique personalities, expertise and personal love of Africa to African Pathfinder. It is more than a job to us – we absolutely love it! We have over 40 years collective, first-hand experience in the industry. We walk the walk and talk the talk. A big part of our yearly planning is to do regular educational and inspection trips ourselves, to ensure we know exactly what destination and experience is best suited for each client. We are authentic, original, honest and go above and beyond and to the nth degree of attention to ensure each journey we design, is a dream experience for our clients.

Many times over, because of our personalised approach, our clients become more like friends. And hence why 90% of our business is repeat and referred clients. We look forward to welcoming you to Africa!

Meet Our Team

Dionne

Dionne

Founding Director

Dionne is the founding director of African Pathfinder, which was created in 2002 from a desire to share the incredible, diverse wildlife experiences in and around beautiful Africa. Born in Zimbabwe and brought up in South Africa, Dionne has also travelled extensively across borders to many other African countries. Her personal experience and love for all that is nature, drives her passion to curate incredible itineraries for each and every client.  Dionne lives in Cape Town with her family and pets, including cats, dogs and horses.

Gaenor

Director

Director and co-owner of African Pathfinder, Gaenor joined ranks with her sister Dionne who founded the company, in 2005. An avid nature junkie, Gaenor loves the outdoors whether hiking the mountain trails or walking the dogs on the beach, but by far her passion is the bush, being out in the wild nature on vehicle or foot spotting game and improving her knowledge of birds.  Gaenor’s other love is yoga; a dedicated practitioner, Gaenor is also a qualified Iyengar yoga teacher and teaches part-time.

Natasha Rautenbach

Natasha

Travel Specialist

Senior Travel Consultant Natasha has a serious passion for nature—especially Africa’s majestic big cats. As a proud mom of two and a doting “cat mom” to three moggies, she’s all about cozy family vibes at home. But her true thrill is crafting epic African adventures for others, where the hush of the bush, a lion’s heart-pounding roar, and endless starry skies steal the show. It’s in sharing the wild beauty of the continent that she finds her greatest joy.
