The Wanderlust Series: Zambia

Out of all the incredible destinations around Southern and East Africa, Zambia is still our firm favourite. In our opinion it offers the most authentic, unspoilt safari experiences where you truly get the sense of “wild Africa”.

The national parks are home to an abundance and great variety of wildlife, incredible bird species and pristine bushveld – this over and above the breath-taking scenery. Added to all the safari adventures, you will find the people of Zambia among the friendliest in the world – it’s a true case of arriving as clients, and leaving as friends!

It’s hard to explain the wholesome, at-peace, enriched sense you get when you are in Zambia. It restores your inner soul. It gives you distance and perspective on all the worries in your life. It heals and enlightens you… This is the destination everyone should visit!

Wonderful walking safaris, game drives, boat safaris, incredible birding, exhilarating tiger fishing or simply just unwinding and taking in the soul-enriching scenery from the deck… there is something for everyone.

Here are some of our favourite camps – all of which we’ve been to (lucky us!) – in various regions of soulful Zambia…

The Best Time to Visit Zambia:

July to September: high season when temperatures are still moderate enough to make walking comfortable. Game viewing also excellent. October is the hottest month.

January to March: rainy season when most camps close in Luangwa and Lower Zambezi.

Hailed as Africa’s ‘diamond in the rough’ or even ‘the warm heart of Africa’, Zambia is a country blessed with awe-inspiring natural wonders, a huge variety of wildlife and an abundance of birdlife, huge water bodies (including 17 magnificent waterfalls) and great tracts of pristine bushveld.
